Polycarbonate Injection Molded Parts (PC Injection Molded Parts)

Release Date: Sep 19, 2026

Polycarbonate (PC) injection molded parts are high-performance plastic components manufactured with polycarbonate resin as the main raw material through precision injection molding technology. As a high-performance amorphous engineering plastic, PC material has outstanding comprehensive properties such as ultra-high impact resistance, excellent light transmittance, high temperature resistance, flame retardancy, and dimensional stability, making PC injection molded parts widely used in high-end electronic appliances, automotive manufacturing, aerospace, medical equipment, lighting engineering, and safety protection fields. Different from ABS, PP, and other conventional plastic parts, PC injection molded parts are positioned in high-precision, high-safety, and high-durability application scenarios, and are important structural and functional components in the high-end manufacturing industry.

The most prominent performance advantage of PC injection molded parts is the ultra-high impact resistance, which is known as "transparent steel". PC material has extremely high toughness and impact strength, and will not crack or break under strong impact, extrusion, and collision. Even thin-walled PC parts can maintain excellent structural integrity, which is far superior to ABS, PMMA, and other plastic materials. This excellent impact resistance makes PC parts the preferred material for safety protection components and anti-collision structural parts. In addition, PC material has excellent light transmittance, with the light transmittance of high-purity PC reaching more than 90%, close to glass, and it has the advantages of light weight, anti-fall, and easy molding compared with glass, so it is widely used in transparent functional parts such as lighting lampshades, instrument display windows, and protective covers.

In terms of temperature resistance and environmental stability, PC injection molded parts have outstanding adaptability. The long-term service temperature range of PC materials is -60°C to 120°C, with excellent high-temperature thermal stability and low-temperature toughness. It will not soften or deform in high-temperature environments, nor become brittle and cracked in ultra-low-temperature environments, and can maintain stable mechanical properties and structural accuracy in extreme temperature environments. At the same time, PC materials have good weather resistance and aging resistance, can resist ultraviolet radiation, wind and rain erosion, and long-term outdoor exposure will not yellow, fade, or performance degradation, suitable for outdoor equipment and open-air engineering facilities. In terms of chemical performance, PC has good resistance to conventional organic solvents, dilute acids, and dilute alkalis, with stable chemical properties and not easy to be corroded and damaged in conventional working environments.

PC injection molded parts have excellent electrical insulation and flame retardant performance, which is the key reason for their wide application in the electrical and electronic industry. PC materials have ultra-high insulation resistance, low dielectric constant, and low dielectric loss, and can maintain stable electrical insulation performance in high-temperature and high-humidity environments, effectively preventing electric leakage, short circuit, and electromagnetic interference, ensuring the safe and stable operation of electrical equipment. Modified flame-retardant PC can reach UL94 V0 highest flame retardant grade, which can self-extinguish in case of open fire, no flame spread, no toxic smoke precipitation, meeting the strict fire safety standards of electronic and electrical equipment, new energy equipment, and aerospace products.

The injection molding process of PC parts is more precise and rigorous than conventional plastic parts due to the material characteristics of PC. PC resin has high melt viscosity and poor fluidity, so it needs higher injection temperature and injection pressure in the molding process, and requires precise mold temperature control to ensure product molding quality. Before production, PC raw materials must be fully dried to remove internal moisture, otherwise the finished products are prone to bubbles, silver lines, and cracks, affecting appearance and structural strength. The molds for producing PC parts adopt high-precision mirror molds to ensure smooth and transparent product surfaces without scratches and impurities. In addition, the cooling and pressure holding parameters in the injection molding process need to be accurately adjusted according to product wall thickness and structural complexity to avoid product warpage, residual stress, and post-cracking problems, ensuring the dimensional accuracy and structural stability of finished products.

Modified PC injection molded parts have been developed for special industrial scenarios, including high-flow PC, low-temperature resistant PC, weather-resistant PC, anti-static PC, and glass fiber reinforced PC. High-flow PC improves the fluidity of molten materials, which is suitable for molding thin-walled and complex structural parts, solving the problem of difficult molding of ultra-thin PC parts. Low-temperature resistant PC optimizes the low-temperature toughness of materials, adapting to ultra-low-temperature working environments such as cold storage equipment and polar engineering facilities. Weather-resistant PC adds anti-ultraviolet additives, which greatly improves outdoor aging resistance and is used in outdoor lighting, photovoltaic equipment, and automotive exterior parts. Glass fiber reinforced PC improves the rigidity, hardness, and dimensional stability of materials, reducing product shrinkage and deformation, suitable for high-precision structural support parts and mechanical equipment accessories.

The application fields of PC injection molded parts are concentrated in high-end precision manufacturing industries. In the electronic and electrical industry, they are used in charger shells, power adapter housings, switch panels, and high-power electrical equipment shells, relying on flame retardancy and insulation performance to ensure electrical safety. In the automotive industry, PC parts are applied to automobile lampshades, instrument panels, skylight accessories, and anti-collision structural parts, using impact resistance and weather resistance to adapt to complex vehicle working environments. In the lighting industry, high-transparency PC parts are used in LED lampshades, street lamp covers, and intelligent lighting protective covers, replacing glass materials to achieve lightweight and anti-fall effects. In the medical industry, medical-grade PC injection molded parts are used in medical equipment shells, surgical instrument protective covers, and medical transparent observation windows, with non-toxic and sterile characteristics to meet medical safety standards. In addition, PC parts are also widely used in safety protection products such as goggles, protective masks, and helmet shells, as well as aerospace and precision instrument fields, becoming an indispensable core component of high-end manufacturing.
